What's covered?

  • Pre-existing medical conditions of any travellers named on the policy and anyone whose health may affect your decision to take or continue your trip unless accepted in writing by us
  • Leisure activities not listed in the policy document
  • Missed international departure due to strike if the date of strike is known at the time of booking
  • Winter sports above the 31 days maximum stated on annual policies
  • Business trips which involve manual work or dealing with the public
  • Claims for your death, injury, illness or disability are not covered if they result from you misusing alcohol or drugs.

Please note, all trips must begin and end in the United States, Channel Islands or Isle of Man. Holidays in the United States, Channel Islands or Isle of Man must include a minimum of 2 consecutive nights stay in pre booked accommodation.

Documents you may need when making a travel insurance claim

  • Original receipts, bills, cash withdrawal slips, flight and luggage tickets, guarantees, instruction manuals, accident reports, any photographs of your belongings and medical certificates or reports
  • A written police report made as soon as reasonably possible for any theft or loss
  • A "Property Irregularity Report" for baggage lost or damaged by an airline
  • Written confirmation from your tour operator or carrier to validate any delays

Your cancellation rights

You have a statutory right to cancel your policy within 14 days from the day of purchase or renewal of the policy or the day on which you receive your policy or renewal documentation, whichever is the later.

You will be covered for your unused travel and accommodation costs if you have to cancel your trip provided it is for one of the reasons shown in your policy booklet.

No. Insured persons under 16 years of age will only be covered when they are travelling with an adult named on your policy schedule.

For single trip policies the maximum trip length is 120 days. If you have an annual policy the standard trip length is 31 days but it is possible to extend this before you travel to either 45, 60 or 90 days. You must not spend longer than 183 days outside the United States in any consecutive 12 month period.
